Hello! I' Kayla 👋🏻 Grad, 1st year out.
So, after becoming successful with my interview in December, I was offered the role of Grade 5/6 Graduate Teacher, 1 day before I left for a roadtrip back to Perth (from melbourne), so I've had a while to think about all the things I'll need! However, I've only seen pictures of the classroom ill be and that's it...I don't know who my team are, students, expectations for first week lessons, resources, access to online school Intranet..nada. slightly freaking out.
I've been screenshotting ideas for displays, bought a toolbox 22 drawer box from Bunnings to store my supplies, bought some 'teacher clothes', a couple of novels and now, joined this site as my brains trust.
What I'm hoping to know, would be what are the essentials to starting out first week for my grade? I feel like I will know more once my AP (acting assistant principle) replies to my email with my carefully thought out 10 questions haha (it's been 10 days, but I didn't expect a reply fast being the holidays).
My acting principle is in the school next week, I want to say ill be there, but I would prefer I meet with someone and have some questions answered instead of just wandering through the school, unable to print or anything.
Any guidance as to how I go about preparing for week one, term 1 would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
(Melbourne, Graduate 5/6 Teacher, 1st Year).
