This APP is very popular at the moment and for good reason. I have tested and love the free version of this app and highly recommend to anyone who is wanting to have more 'calmness' in their life or perhaps need strategies for relaxing at night time.
I have seen this used successfully with students of all age groups. It has been particularly powerful with regulating emotions after break times and for transitioning between subjects and learning activities.Individuals who suffer from anxiety (like myself) can find the breathing strategies really helpful when they need it and using this APP with all students at a consistent time each day or week will give them a valuable tool they can use when they are older, should they find themselves facing anxiety or unable to self regulate in a situation. The best way to learn how to self regulate your body and emotions is in times of calmness so your body associates this feeling and state of being with the strategy. Then when you feel anxiety coming or you find yourself stuck with an emotion and unable to self regulate and get back to yourself, you can implement the strategy and you body will be triggered into working itself back to 'calmness' which is aligns with the strategies you have practised.I love this topic and happy to chat further with anyone who suffers anxiety or PTSD... I am in my third year of suffering severe cases of both and only now feel like I am turning a corner! The Savvy Teachers project has helped me to share my journey and I hope it helps at least one person or teacher to support individuals in their classroom, with anxiety. With 1 in 3 people will suffer debilitating anxiety at some point in their life. Imagine you were the teacher who brought this breathing technique into the classroom to help set a foundation for a skill they can then rely on through their teenage years and into adulthood?
